Rome photos

Well it has been quite a while, since my last post...well overdue. I have started my Rome entry but laziness has crept in and I have yet to finish, so I thought I'd start with something else. So here is some of my pictures from Rome:

I'll try and finish my Rome blog soon.

I also went to Hillsong London Sunday night just gone. It was awesome, great to be in a meeting with a few hundred enthusiastic christians. I did have a bit of a revelation that night though. You just can't walk into church, you have to line up. So I walked to the back of the line (300m later) and joined the queue.

Just after I joined the queue I saw a homeless man walk up to some people in the queue, they ignored him, and so did I. A few moments later, I realised what I had done. Here I am waiting in line to go to church and I can't even spare a few dollars for a homeless man. I felt sick and ashamed, my one opportunity to show someone the love of Christ and I ignored it. What use am I if I can't even show one man some love, while I'm lining up for church.

So I sat through the meeting and enjoyed the night as I could. After church I walked out and crossed the road to get some food. Then I noticed this young lady sitting on the side of the road, so I stood to the side and watched her for a moment. She didn't look unclean, and she didn't have old or ripped clothes, but she looked very upset, like she was just about to cry. I watched her as many people walked past, people I had even just gone to church with.

I thought to myself "I'm not going to let this happen again", so I walked over to her and started talking to her. Asked her if she was okay, if she needed any help. She said she was homeless, and was begging for some money to stay in a hostel. She need 20 pound to pay for the week. I felt compassion for her and I told her that I would pay for her accomodation for the week. So I gave her the money and asked if I could walk her to the hostel. So she walked me to her hostel. We chatted, exchanged names, and she told me a little about herself.

We got to the hostel and she went in and paid and came back out again (I was kinda relieved cause I thought she might have been ripping me off). She said thanks and started walking off again. I asked what she was doing and she said she's off to beg again cause she needed more money to pay for another week in the hostel so she can apply for assistance from the government. I asked her how much she needed, and she said 19 pounds.

I stood there thinking to myself, "I've come this far I can't give up now". So I gave her the last 20 pound note in my wallet. Some may think I am crazy, but she seemed to me to be telling her the truth. So I had given her £40 which is about $100 Aussie Dollars, which is hard cause I'm not earning any money at the moment. But I gave it to her any way, with some faith and hope that in the long term this would help her. So I gave her the money, and she went in and payed for the following week. She came back and thanked me, and I prayed with her, and she went back in to get some sleep.

So I just want to encourage everyone about what we are called to do as Christians. It's so easy to lose sight of what we are called to do in the midst of going though our everyday lives. Remember the simple things in serving God. And if you have time pray for a young English girl with a cockney accent called Leah. Pray that God will open up doors of opportunity, and that other christians will come across her path to help her.

Want to give God glory for this, I am just his humble servant.
